JLM Audio Mono mic pre kit: Build Tutorial

Issue 82 saw Guy Harrison putting together a tidy little mic preamp kit from JLM Audio. The JLM Mono is a transformer balanced mic preamp with an electronic balanced output. It’s tough and rugged, and equally at home in the studio or on location. While the magazine article will help when constructing the Mono kit, you may also find Guy’s video tutorial of assistance if you’re a little reticent to get your hands on a soldering iron.

Guy also looks at the various op-amp configurations you can try, along with pointing out a few tricks to make the whole job a lot easier.
