TROPFEST: CALLING ALL MUSOS
Here’s a chance to get your name in lights and a little extra cash. Tropfest and Apra Amcos are calling on songwriters, bands, budding musos and screen composers to enter Tropscore 2014.
To win, entrants must score or synch for Capture, a Tropfest New York 2013 finalist film, directed by Jen Gerber.
The Tropscore winner will walk away with AU$5000 in cash and a once in a life opportunity to perform their original film score LIVE at Tropfest on December 7, 2014.
“We are really excited to offer this opportunity to songwriters and composers,” said Michelle, O’Donnell, APRA AMCOS Manager of Film and TV.
“It’s the only competition of its kind in Australia and really showcases how important music is in terms of creating certain moods and meanings in films. Whether you’re a songwriter, play in a band or compose, I’d encourage you to try something different and apply for Tropscore this year.”
Heading to Sydney’s Centennial Park for the second time, December 7th, Tropfest Australia 2014 is planning to be bigger than ever.
Tropfest had humble beginnings at the Tropicana Café in Sydney’s Darlinghurst where an eager crowd of 200 showed up to watch a short film screening that Tropfest founder John Polson had organised. Twenty two years on, Tropfest attracts a live audience of around 150,000 in Australia and the Festival has grown internationally with standalone competitions in New Zealand, South East Asia, New York and the Middle East.
Download the film from the Tropfest website: www.tropfest.com/au/tropscore. Entries close 6pm, 2 October 2014.
