Technics Relaunches in Australia
The brand is back. At an exclusive event held on Tuesday November 12th, Panasonic announced it will relaunch the Technics name in Australia with a special family of products that includes record players, headphones, and all-in-one music systems. Key staff from Technics in Japan attended the event to talk tech as well as explain the reasons behind the relaunch. Technics is not a new name — it’s been around since 1965. Four years ago Panasonic revived the brand globally.
The ‘vinyl revival’ played no small part in Panasonic’s decision to bring Technics back to our shores. This resurgence in both interest and demand for vinyl records set the stage for Technics to re-enter the market as one of the pioneers in turntable technology. Aside from the record players, the Australian launch also brings an intelligent new set of wireless headphones and the impressive Ottava Series home music player systems. These will be available through selected Australian retailers from as early as this week.

SL-1210 Mk7 Turntable
The SL-1200 was launched as a popular direct drive turntable in 1972, becoming a best-selling model with cumulative sales of 3,500,000 units. It was supported by powerful torque, easy operation, and high durability. It became greatly admired by both audio enthusiasts and DJs who helped to unleash the DJ culture in areas such as electronic dance music. The series is still highly acclaimed by DJs worldwide today.
The Technics SL-1210MK7 inherits the traditional design of the same series and maintains the same operating ease, reliability and unrivalled durability, while adding a coreless direct drive motor and other sound-enhancing technologies. It also features new DJ play functions, such as reverse playback.
EAH-DJ1200 DJ Headphones
The Technics EAH-DJ1200 DJ Headphones feature a contemporary matte black finish, making them an excellent match for the SL-1210MK7 DJ Turntable.
The newly developed driver uses a 40mm-diameter CCAW voice coil. It achieves clear, detailed sound, and high-durability input (2,500 mW) with no distortion even at high volumes. Also, because the sound is well balanced from low to high ranges, DJ play in high-volume surroundings is not buried in noise and monitoring is comfortable.
The EAH-DJ1200 headphones are priced at $300 RRP and will be available from November 2019 via selected audio specialist retailers.
Ottava Series Music Players
Beautiful to look at and a joy to listen to, the secret to the Premium Class Ottava models’ success is that, despite their compact size, they deliver a powerful yet refined, room-filling sound.
With striking and stylish aesthetics, the SC-C70 all in one music system is the perfect addition to any home. The smooth acrylic glass plate covering the top-loading CD compartment and aluminium touch key adds a touch of elegance to this compact system. Apple iOS and Android Apps offer convenient control from a smart device.
The SC-C70 has three JENO Engines (Jitter Elimination and Noise-shaping Optimisation) and five 2-way, 2.1-channel speakers to deliver powerful sound. The acoustic louver and acoustic lenses in front of the tweeter achieve spatial sound and a wider listening area.
For all three models, Panasonic offers Space Tune to allow for quick setup and optimum performance according to where the device is placed in a room. The SC-C50 and SC-C30 offer further precise adjustment, with iOS calibration using a device’s integrated microphone.
The Technics Premium Class Ottava Series lineup is:

Premium Wireless Speaker System SC-C50: $1429 RRP
Compact Wireless Speaker System SC-C30: $1149 RRP
EAH-F70N Wireless Headphones
The EAH-F70N headphones support LDAC/apt-X HD for wireless, high-res-equivalent sound reproduction and feature Technics’ original wide-band hybrid active noise-cancelling to allow immersion in music in virtually any environment.
The new headphones faithfully reproduce both delicate musical nuances and dynamic sound, via 40-mm dynamic drivers with a Composite Performance Film (CPF) diaphragm; and an optimal airflow Air Control Precision Structure.
The diaphragm consists of a newly developed composite performance film laminated with special materials to achieve high rigidity and high internal damping. Fast response and high definition are achieved wirelessly; reproducing High-Resolution Audio when High-Resolution content is transmitted with the LDAC codec at a maximum transfer rate of 990kbps. When connected via Bluetooth, LDAC supports up to 96kHz/24 bits and apt-X HD supports up to 48kHz/24 bits (high-res reproduction when connected by cable).
The EAH-F70N headphones come in black, silver or copper styles, priced at $600 RRP.
