50 years of Technics 1200 celebrated with limited edition colours
Based on the iconic SL-1200MK7, Technics has announced the launch of the SL-1200M7L, a limited edition direct-drive turntable now available in black, red, blue, white, green, yellow, and beige. Celebrating half a century of the iconic SL-1200 series Turntables, the SL-1200M7L is designed for DJs and aficionados who have for years customised their units themselves with unique colours that reflect their passions and identity. With approximately 300 units to be released in Australia, and 12,000 worldwide, the SL-1200M7L boasts a tone arm anodised in a gold hue, and the top panel featuring a special badge with an engraved serial number.
The SL-1200 was launched as a popular direct drive turntable in 1972, becoming a best-selling model with cumulative sales of 3,500,000 units for the series. It was supported by powerful torque, easy operation, and high durability.The SL-1200M7L is designed to reflect the street culture that first gave birth to ‘modern’ DJs in the 1970s, and commands popularity and respect within the music industry which has cherished Technics’ premium SL-1200 Series turntables for 50 years. The SL-1200M7L is also accompanied by an exclusive slipmat with a gold-coloured Technics logo and a 50th anniversary sticker and will be available in Australia from May 2022, priced at AU$1,999 RRP.
