SUPERTRAMP ON AN SD8
Well, not just Supertramp. Roger Hodgson is touring worldwide for audiences keen to hear a blend of his solo material and the classics that he recorded with his former band, Supertramp which, of course, he co-founded. As you can see from the pictures he plays some impressive venues and often employs a more intimate, sometimes in-the-round stage setup. Another aspect of Hodgson’s tours is that audience sizes vary hugely, playing his own shows, private events, festivals – the entire range. Audiences can differ literally from 100 up to 100,000 people. The band uses a Pivitec personal monitoring system controlled from FOH (it can also be individually controlled via iOS apps on stage) and to better accommodate the extra outputs this required, Front of House engineer Howard Heckers has switched to a DiGiCo SD8 console. Heckers also carries a 150 metre Optocore in case they stick him at the back of the room. Sound all right? Bloody well right!

Roger’s sound is better than ever!! As audiotechnology spoke of, Roger has been touring for the better part of the last 10 years together with Howard Heckers and Wim Daans, his sound men creating a well balanced sound for the entire group!! To here one of his many songs orchestrated by this sound duo, created by Roger and his band……. transports you to different time in your life……. It’s so hard to pick just one song, for many are poetry in motion….. There is something magical about “School”. But I so love many of Roger’s songs… “Give a Little Bit, Take the Long Way Home”, Hide in Your Shell…” You hear the first note from Roger Hodgson’s guitar and you stop, feel the goosebumps as you are transported to a different time in your life. I have heard this song live where it sounds more amazing.
