SONIC LIGHTHOUSE
Singapore mega-church, Lighthouse Evangelism Woodlands has just added two SSL Live L500s to its arsenal, for FOH and monitor duties.
The church is hoping to raise the roof for its 4000 plus congregants who regularly attend its Sunday worship sessions, with an average weekly attendance of 15,000 people for all services.
The new consoles sit side-by-side in the Main Hall Sanctuary of the multi-level facility, and were personally installed by SSL Singapore’s Managing Director, Chan Kheng Wah and Live Marketing Manager, Dominic Koh. The entire system makes use of arbitrated gain sharing, with the both consoles sharing inputs from the SSL stageboxes, via a multiplexed MADI interface and SSL’s Blacklight II high-bandwidth – reducing the number of cables between stage rack, FOH and monitor desks.
“The difference between the previous consoles and the SSL L500s is like night and day,” says Rhey Ruiz, Head of Sound for Lighthouse Evangelism.
“The microphone preamplifiers are amazing. We can hear so much more of our instrumentation, which has really contributed to the enjoyment and fulfilment that the congregation experiences at each service. What’s more, we record all of our services to multi-track, and the integration of the recording capabilities has been perfect. We can record directly from the microphone to the recorder without any filtering, which is something we were not able to do in the past.”
