SENNHEISER ORPHEUS PREMIUM HEADPHONES
Following on from 1990/1991’s Orpheus HE 90/HEV 90, Sennheiser has its new flagship headphones with the Sennheiser HE 1060 / HEV 1060. Employing the latest breakthroughs in design, leading-edge manufacturing techniques and materials, the new Orpheus headphones come with a vacuum tube amplifier, and Sennheiser has spared no effort in making these the most prestigious cans they can boast of. The electrostatic headphone system combines innovative technology with carefully selected, luxurious materials and highest quality craftsmanship.
Sennheiser’s vision has always been to create larger-than-life sound, building high-end headphones that make you feel like you’re in a concert hall; creating acoustics that surpass your expectations. And, over the years, the company has gained respect for achieving precisely that. “With the new Orpheus, we once again push the boundaries and show that we can repeatedly set new benchmarks in excellence and with that shape the future of the audio world,” said Sennheiser CEO Daniel Sennheiser.
The Orpheus was designed to deliver precision reproduction, exceptional spatiality and a frequency response that extends far beyond the range of human hearing ability. It uses an amplifier concept that combines the advantages of a tube amplifier with those of a transistor amplifier. The marble that Sennheiser chose for the amplifier housing comes from Carrara in Italy and is the same type of marble that Michelangelo used to create his sculptures.
The headphones will be crafted in Germany from next year, and will go for a whopping €50,000 (over $75,000 AUD).
