Sennheiser has launched Ambeo Music Blueprints, a website dedicated to all thing immersive audio. The site explores how to record, mix and deliver live music as a 3D audio experience. You can learn about Ambeo 3D recording for 9.1 loudspeaker reproduction, Ambeo for binaural 3D playback on standard headphones, and about Ambeo 3D Ambisonics audio for VR applications.

“Our greatest experiences of music are usually live moments in which we are completely immersed in sound and the situation – whether at a festival, a concert or even a party,” says Véronique Larcher, Director Ambeo Immersive Audio. “With AMBEO Music Blueprints, we are showing how to record and mix music with the same grandeur and natural, spatial sound as in the original performance.”

Information on the site is broken down into three blueprints — Ambeo for Loudspeakers, Ambeo for Binaural, and Ambeo for Virtual Reality.

Ambeo for Loudspeakers takes a close look at the new main microphone setups that create truly immersive 3D recordings, dubbed the Ambeo Square, Ambeo Cube, and the Lean Ambeo Cube, specifically for a 9.1 loudspeaker setup.

Ambeo for Binaural focuses on using a dummy head mic, like the Neumann KU 100, for recording 3D sound, and enhancing that sound with spatially processed spot microphones.

Ambeo for Virtual Reality explores the use of Sennheiser’s recently-launched Ambeo VR mic, showing how it can be used to create 360° recordings. It also explains how the microphone works, where best to position it, and how to set the recording gear.
