QU32 SET TO LAUNCH

We first heard about Allen & Heath’s QU32 was its unveiling at Infocomm, last June (link). But now with its launch tour only a week away, we thought it might be time to have a closer inspection to see what it offers.

For starters, its has 33 motor faders, has 38-in/24-out, with AnalogiQTM recallable preamps, a dedicated fader for each mic channel and a full colour 7-inch touchscreen that accesses channel processing, FX racks and all the setup and system management controls. Additionally there’s a SuperStrip of control knobs, for those of us with big fingers who find the smaller screens hard to use.

The Qu workflow is similar to those found in the GLD and iLive touring systems and also includes the latter’s FX emulations, including a number of presets, modulators and delays. The I/O comprises of 32 mic/line ins, 3 stereo ins, 24 mix outs including 2 stereo matrix mix outs and 4 stereo groups, patchable AES digital output with a further 2-channel ALT out, dedicated talkback mic pre in, and 2-track out. There’s also 4 DCA groups for applications where multiple sources need a single level control.

You can see the mixer in action next week during the launch tour, which also includes a digital mixing clinic by A&H’s Alex Schloesser.

The launch will be taking place in Brisbane (27th & 28th), Sydney (29th), Melbourne (30th) and Adelaide (31st). If you’re interested in checking it out, then you can register for the clinic by clicking here.
