PRESONUS ANNOUNCES ERIS ACTIVE TWO-WAY MONITORS
Presonus has introduced a duo of studio monitors to its lineup — the Eris E44 and E66. Both are active two-way models, built to deliver an ‘expanded frequency range and the widest stereo field in their class.’ The Midwoofer-Tweeter-Midwoofer (MTM) design is supposed to provide a more consistent listening plane both on and off axis.
The E44 configuration incorporates 4.5” dual Kevlar low/mid drivers, while the E66 has dual 6.5” drivers. Both low-mid drivers operate in parallel, emitting the same frequency range so their responses acoustically couple to effectively create a larger woofer. Housing the 1.25” silk-dome tweeter between the two woofer supposedly ‘minimises phase displacement for improved spatial resolution and a wide sweet spot.’
The speakers also feature a three-position Acoustic Space switch which helps compensate for bass irregularities when a speaker is placed near a wall. High and Mid controls are also on the rear panel, as well as a Low Cutoff filter for incorporating a subwoofer. Input connections available are balanced XLR and 1/4” TRS, and unbalanced RCA.
