A new studio microphone from Music Group isn’t a surprise. The Tannoy badge on the front certainly is.

Tannoy used to have a line of ribbon microphones several decades ago but is far better known for its loudspeakers. Anyway, Music decides to reintroduce the brand to mic world with its first ever studio condenser, the TM1. The TM1 is designed to be an all-rounder in the studio with a fixed cardioid polar pattern and one-inch gold-plated diaphragm. It comes with a heavy duty shock mount and pop filter, and a 6m microphone cable. Tannoy promises ‘virtually noise free transmission’ although no specs have been provided just yet.

The TM1 is expected to hit stores in late August/early September and has a suggested retail price of US$150.
