NEW SOUNDCRAFT Vi CONSOLE
Soundcraft has released a preview of its latest addition to the Vi range of digital live consoles, the Vi3000. The new console combines the Vistonics-based control surface concepts of the Vi4 and Vi6 consoles with Soundcraft SpiderCore – an integrated DSP and IO engine based on Studer technology that apparently needed squeezing down to fit inside the control surface itself. Among the wealth of expected features, for the first time in a Soundcraft console you have a built-in 64x64ch Dante interface. There’s also an additional optical MADI interface designed for either record feeds or connection of the new Soundcraft Realtime Rack plug-in processing engine, which will add UAD-Powered Plug-Ins into the mix. The Vi3000 comes in a new “industrial” design and the 3D-Vistonics graphics for the console’s touchscreen GUI have been given the once-over, too. The full product launch is supposed to be today, but the time-zone difference here in Oz is confusing things. Check out www.soundcraft.com tomorrow and all should be revealed.
