MINI MIXERS AND STAGEBOXES FROM SOUNDCRAFT
Soundcraft has come up with some new Notepad mixers and they’re pretty adorable. Three models form the family, two of which offer Lexicon DSP and a USB interface. The Notepad-5 is the baby of the bunch with a single XLR combi input, and two stereo line inputs via both TRS and RCA connectors. The Notepad-8FX and Notepad-12FX both have a fader for the master channel, more inputs (four mic preamps on the -12FX), three-band EQs, aux and headphone outputs, plus built-in DSP including Lexicon reverbs, chorus, delay and tap tempo control. Joining the similar mini mixer offerings from Behringer, Allen & Heath, Mackie, and others, the Soundcraft Notepad models look to be one of those ‘desert island’ tools every audio pro needs sitting in their studio or car boot.
Also from Soundcraft is two new Mini Stagebox models, the 32i and 16i, designed specifically for the Si series products. The rack-mount stageboxes are equipped with Studer-designed preamps and interface with an Si console via MADI for easy input expansion — up to 80 inputs for Si Impact after a firmware update coming in April. No local hardware configuration or option cards are needed or required — engineers can simply plug in, power on, select inputs and control remotely using a Soundcraft Si console.
Dedicated XLR mic pre inputs allow 32 or 16 simultaneous channels of external analogue input. Mini Stagebox 32i offers twelve analogue outputs, while Mini Stagebox 16i offers eight analogue outputs for connection to house and stage monitors and broadcast or streaming feeds.
