HARMAN AT INFOCOMM 2016

Of the many product introductions made by industry giant Harman at InfoComm 2016 in Las Vegas, there were some exciting announcements for the live sound sector from Harman-owned brands Crown and JBL.

Two new sets of amplifiers from Crown have been announced. The CDi DriveCore Series offers a balance of functionality and affordability, providing the power and capabilities of Crown’s popular DriveCore Install (DCi) Series amps with a streamlined set of options targeted to deliver optimal value to small and medium-sized applications. In addition, the new Crown DCi-DA Series brings Dante networked audio options to the DriveCore Install amplifier family, with five models joining the range featuring the most popular combination of channel count and output power.

JBL expanded its Intellivox HP Series of column loudspeakers with the new HP-DS170, suited to highly reverberant, acoustically challenging environments. The beam shaping loudspeaker has built-in amplification, onboard DSP and Digital Directivity Synthesis technology, offering the same features of the HP DS370 at a lower size and price point.

JBL also introduced its flagship CBT Series column loudspeaker, the CBT1000, which is supposed to improve on bass response and beam adjustment and coverage pattern flexibility. 12 6.5-inch high-excursion LF drivers and 24 high-powered tweeter give the CBT1000 line array a maximum of 130dB continuous output with 3000W of power handling for high output applications. “The CBT1000 was engineered to provide versatility and high-quality sound reinforcement for applications that require performance, simplicity and compact size,” said Rick Kamlet, Senior Manager, Commercial Loudspeakers, HARMAN Professional Solutions. “A CBT1000 loudspeaker provides clearer music, less reverberation, a higher direct-to-reverberant ratio and better speech intelligibility.”
