GXD PROCESSING AMPS
QSC has announced the addition of the GXD Series processing amplifiers to its entertainment and production line early next year, with onboard digital signal processing, multiple routing options and advanced protection circuitry.
Housed in a 2U rack-mount configuration, the amplifiers offer class-D power for high output in a lightweight chassis design with complete loudspeaker processing capability including high- and low-pass filters (24dB LR), four-band parametric equaliser, signal alignment delay, and RMS/peak speaker protection limiting. To get up and running quickly, 20 preset ‘starting points’ for selected typical systems are also provided. A digital limiter prevents destructive clipping while delivering the maximum usable output – protection is set by selecting the loudspeaker’s continuous power and impedance, and a choice of Mild, Medium or Aggressive protection mode as desired.
The front panels include a power switch, four status indicators and a large LCD screen that provides metering and status monitoring. When combined with the two rotary encoders and three menu buttons, users have complete amplifier control over parameter selection and adjustment of amplifier gain and DSP parameters. The rear panels include XLR and quarter-inch TRS inputs, NL4 and binding post outputs and an AC power inlet.
The two models in the range are the GXD 4 (400W per channel @ 8 ohms or 600W @ 4 ohms), and the GXD 8 (800W per channel @ 8 ohms or 1200W @ 4 ohms).
Price and Availability
Both will be available in January 2015 with US prices at around $600 and $1000 respectively, no word as yet on Australian prices.
