PXM-12MP Powered Floor Monitor

The PXM-12MP marks Electro-Voice’s debut in the powered stage monitor market. Created for live performances from solo entertainers, bands, mobile DJs and rental companies, PXM-12MP is a two-way stage wedge featuring coaxially aligned 12-inch LF and 1.75-inch HF transducers. Its small footprint and light weight of 13.5kg makes it an extremely portable solution suited to live performances on all stages, particularly excelling where floor space is limited.

Thanks to the solid, consistent coverage, the monitor mix can be heard clearly without restricting performers to a limited part of the stage. The acoustically optimised 55° monitor floor angle enables an artist to stand as close or as far away from the system as necessary without sacrificing audio intelligibility. The wide 90° horizontal angle also gives performers the freedom to move across the stage, rather than being constrained to just a small area.

The built-in two-channel Class-D 700 W amplifier – developed in collaboration with EV’s sibling brand Dynacord – provides plenty of power, precision sound and enough headroom to reach a maximum sound pressure level of 129dB.

EV’s intuitive QuickSmart DSP features a backlit LCD panel and a push-button encoder. The integrated digital three-band EQ features different factory presets for various application modes, as well as five individual user presets. A special high-Q notch filter can eliminate troublesome feedback frequencies. The delay function with 0.1m increments provides precise adjustment when used as a delay speaker. The GUITARCAB setting allows to connect a guitar directly to the PXM-12MP via a DI box.

The recessed connection panel is located on the side of the speaker, ensuring it is well protected and also easily accessible when used on a pole. It features two XLR/TRS combo mic/line inputs, an individual phantom power option, a stereo RCA AUX input for playback music sources, and an XLR THRU input when used as part of a distributed sound system. An XLR MIXOUT output allows the cabinet to act as a basic three-channel mixer that can send the mix to another loudspeaker. PXM12-MP’s integrated cable management helps reduce stage clutter.

The PXM-12MP stage monitor is housed in a durable, 15 mm plywood enclosure with rugged EV-Coat and is furnished with a robust powder-coated steel grille to guarantee roadworthiness for everyday use.

The PXM-12MP will be available in February 2020.

EVOLVE 30M Column Speaker

The Evolve 30M joins the larger Evolve 50 in Electro-Voice’s Evolve column speaker system series.

The Evolve 30M is designed to deliver room-filling coverage and flexible functionality combined in a very compact package. The system includes a speaker array, a two-piece pole connector, an array and pole backpack carry case, and a powered subwoofer, all made to pack up and assemble quickly, look great on stage, and withstand real-world wear and tear.

The full-range column array and its six lightweight 2.8-inch neodymium drivers provide ultra-wide 120° coverage via proprietary waveguides; array-formed 40° asymmetrical vertical coverage ensures acoustic output is directed towards both sitting and standing audience members. The array enclosure is constructed from a durable composite material and incorporates an ergonomic aluminium handle. A 10-inch subwoofer is housed in a 15mm wood enclosure with a high-efficiency laminar-flow vent design, for enhanced rigidity and acoustical performance. The array and sub are connected via a two-piece symmetrical aluminium pole with internal wiring and magnetically assisted latching. A Class-D amplifier provides up to 1000W of output power: 500W to the subwoofer and 500W to the column array. The speakers are protected by a black powder-coated 18-gauge steel grille. A white version will also be available later this year.

The Evolve 30M’s control panel features EV’s QuickSmart DSP, which allows navigation of system parameters via an LCD with single-knob control or via the app, as well as multiple options for signal routing and inputs. Functions include four presets (Music, Live, Speech, Club), three-band system EQ (low, mid, high), seven-band graphic EQ (in Mixer mode), five user-programmable presets (Store and Recall settings), phantom power, visual monitoring of limiter status, input level control and meters, and a master volume control to optimise gain structure.

Developed in collaboration with the world-class audio electronics engineering team at EV’s sibling brand Dynacord, the integrated fully featured, fully configurable digital mixer has multiple inputs (4 x XLR/TRS combo mic/line inputs, 1 x XLR/TRS combo stereo line input, 1 x RCA, 1x 3.5mm stereo, 1 x hi-Z instrument input) with preamps and mix functions. Independent channel aux sends and Hi-Z and foot switch inputs are also included, and a range of effects (30 presets, including chorus, delay, flange and reverb, via two FX channels) add myriad options for musicians to fine-tune their tone. All of the above help to reduce setup time – and on-stage clutter – by minimising the need for external equipment such as a mixer and effects pedals. The mixer and onboard effects can be controlled via the app or via the LCD/single-knob interface.
