MOTU 8pre interface

MOTU’s new 8pre interface is a dual-purpose device. The 8pre audio interface provides everything you need to turn your computer into a sixteen channel 24-bit, 96kHz digital audio workstation via eight microphone/instrument preamps with 96kHz analogue recording and playback, combined with 8 channels of ADAT optical digital I/O. It can also work in a stand-alone mode where the digital I/O becomes an A/D converter for the microphone preamps to connect into an existing system without the need for the USB port to be connected or software drivers controlling the 8Pre. As your primary audio interface the included CueMix software will mix all 16 inputs – note there are two ADAT lightpipe connections that work together to support the full 8 channels of optical digital I/O. Using CueMix you can create separate monitor mixes for the main outs or headphones, plus control everything else such as talk-back and listen-back. The 8pre has a 16-channel MIDI interface and provides cross-platform compatibility with Mac OS X (10.6 or higher), Windows (8/7/Vista) and most DAW audio software or host-based effects via WDM/ASIO/Core Audio drivers. You can also use the included AudioDesk workstation software for Mac OS, with 24-bit recording/editing and 32-bit mixing/processing/mastering. Full info on the 8pre is at www.motu.com The RRP is Oz is $899 and you can grab one now.
