ChowDSP: Chow Tape Model
A free audio emulation of tape playback on various reel to reel machines.

Chowdhury DSP is a project created by Jatin Chowdhury with the intention of developing innovative and high-quality audio software, as well as making that software available to the widest audience possible. ChowDSP software is driven by the desire to create useful tools for musicians and audio engineers; tools that sound great, are easy to use, and provide musical inspiration.
CHOW Tape Model is a physical model of an analog tape machine, implemented as an audio plugin. Originally based on the Sony TC-260, the current version can be used to emulate a wide variety of reel-to-reel tape machines. This work began part of a class project for Music 420 at Stanford University (CCRMA), but the physical model is described in an academic paper, ‘Real-Time Physical Modelling for Analog Tape Machines’, presented at the 2019 DAFx conference. CHOW Tape is currently available in the following formats: VST, VST3, AU, AAX, AUv3, CLAP, LV2, and as a standalone plugin.
