Warm Up Your Audio
Warm Audio faithfully re-creates “Rev D” and “Blue Stripe” Compressors.
Warm Audio has introduced the WA76-D & WA76-D2 discrete FET compressors delivering classic “Rev D” clean gain compression and the WA76-A & WA76-A2 discrete FET compressors delivering the iconic “Blue Stripe” vintage-voiced compression. Using premium components including custom transformers from CineMag USA and with added modern controls to achieve parallel compression, active & true bypass, selectable input impedance, and sidechain flexibility, the all-new WA76 series is the ideal choice for modern recording workflows that require vintage tone shaping. The single channel WA76-D & WA76-A and the dual channel WA76-D2 & WA76-A2 are available now at authorized retailers worldwide.
“At the 10-year anniversary of our wildly successful WA76 FET compressor, we’re excited to update our lineup and introduce an all-new series of WA76 compressors built with the specific circuits of these iconic originals and also give you the most features of any compressor on the market,” said Bryce Young, founder and President of Warm Audio. “With the Warm Formula, we knew we could accurately dial in the low-noise & high headroom of the classic “Rev D” and the analog grit of the “Blue Stripe” but we wanted to go farther and give producers & engineers compressors that were loaded with additional recording features and controls. We also knew that having a dual channel design with multiple operating modes gives you twice the ultra-fast compression power in any recording scenario where you wish you had two 1176 compressors without hogging precious rack space.”
WA76-D & WA76-D2
The WA76-D and WA76-D2 are faithful recreations of the vintage 76 “Revision-D-style” FET studio compressor, with a true-to-original circuit design that delivers the lauded “D-style”compression known for its speed, lower noise, and rich analog tone. Just like in the classic 76-style compressors from revision “A” to D”, the WA76-D and WA76-D2 use custom large-core, CineMag USA input & output transformers. These transformers use the exact same spec data and materials used by Reichenbach Engineering in the original vintage designs known for delivering unmistakable analog tone to any signal chain. WA76-D & WA76-D2 use premium ceramic & electrolytic capacitors, metal film resistors, and a revised preamp stage, improving the linear response of the FET. These key components complete a circuit that cuts no corners in delivering an authentic “cleaner, low noise” 76-style compression experience.
WA76-A & WA76-A2
The WA76-A and WA76-A2 are faithful recreations of the vintage 76 “blue stripe”-style FET studio compression known for its extra “grabby” fast attack and vintage analog grit. Just like in the vintage “Blue Stripe” 76-style compressors from revision “A” to D”, the WA76-A and WA76-A2 use custom large-core, CineMag USA input & output transformers. These transformers also use the exact same spec data and materials used by Reichenbach Engineering to accurately deliver the vintage-voiced tone of this classic original. The WA76-A and WA76-A2 use premium poly film capacitors, premium resistors, and a vintage-voiced preamp stage. These key components complete a circuit that delivers an authentic vintage 76-style “blue stripe”-style compression experience.
Added Modern Recording Features
Each compressor in the all-new WA76 series features all of the traditional controls; attack, release, ratio, input, output, and meter display. In addition to these classic controls expected on a 76-style compressor, the new WA76-D & A models all feature stereo linking, dry/wet mix for parallel compression, external sidechain, selectable input impedance to match nicely with classic analog gear and modern interface connections, multiple active bypass options in addition to true bypass, and a variable sidechain high-pass filter to tackle unruly bass that dominates the compressor’s attention. The new WA76 series offers the ideal blend of vintage circuitry and modern controls to deliver ultimate flexibility without sacrificing vintage analog character.
