POINT SOURCE ADDITIONS TO d&b xS-SERIES
d&b audiotechnik’s additions to the xS-Series, the 24S and 24S-D point source loudspeakers, are designed specifically for permanent installation applications like venues like nightclubs, live performance venues, houses of worship, multipurpose centres, and sports venues. The only difference between the 24S and 24S-D is horizontal dispersion, with the first being 75° and the latter 110°. Both have a vertical dispersion of 45°. Two 12-inch drivers are coupled with a single horn-loaded 1.4-inch rotatable exit compression driver.
The new accompanying 21S-SUB houses a single 21-inch driver in a bass-reflex design to produce a frequency response of 35-105Hz. d&b says the sub is only necessary for bass-heavy applications — the point source boxes are plenty sufficient to cover most full-range duties. Couple them with the install-specific 30D amplifier and you’ll get over 135dB SPL max output, making them a suitable alternative to a line array.
