ELECTRO-VOICE INTRODUCES ND SERIES MICROPHONES
Electro-Voice launches its ND series of dynamic wired microphones, the successor to the N/Dym Series. The eight-mic lineup is designed for both the recording room and the stage, with four vocal mics and four instrument mics. Electro-Voice states the ND Series features newly designed large-diaphragm capsules that improve on the original technology in the N/Dym capsules. The ND76 and ND76S vocal mics both have on/off switches and cardioid polar patterns. A boost in the high-mid frequencies provides extra intelligibility for vocal tone. The supercardioid ND86 is tailored for concerts/festivals with reduced sensitivity to off-axis frequencies and stage noise. The ND96 is made to take high SPLs, with the squared-off grille letting vocalists get right in its face. The four instrument models, the ND44, ND46, ND66 and ND68, are similarly tailored to specific applications for both recording and live sound. The small-diaphragm ND66 is the only condenser mic in the series and boasts selectable HPFs, pads and a locking pivoting head.
