AES 2015: BAE AUDIO RELEASES COMPRESSOR, EQ & PASSIVE DI AT AES
BAE Audio makes an impression on the 139th AES Convention floor by showcasing three new products — the 10 DCF compressor, the G10 graphic equaliser and the VGDI ‘Signature Series’ DI box.
The new 10 DCF compressor/limiter features transformer-coupled, all-discrete circuitry as well as a bypass filter, with an inductor borrowed from the BAE 1073. It is sonically familiar to the BAE Audio lineup of gear, and well suited for use in a modern DAW environment or with analogue tape machines. The 10 DCF also features a slight facelift, now with original Marconi knobs, stepped switches for each control, and a reverse analogue meter.
The first graphic equaliser in BAE Audio’s lineup, the 10-band G10, housed in a 500-series unit, is ideal for shaping guitar and drum tones. It features Jensen transformers, a balanced set of inputs and outputs and a dedicated high pass filter. Like all BAE products, the G10 is hardwired in California and will have a sub-$1k price-point.
The VGDI ‘Signature Series’ is a passive direct injection box, also with Jensen transformers and high noise rejection in a durable steel housing.
