Social media behemoth, Twitter has today added a new audio card to allow users to listen to podcasts and music directly from their feed.
Joining with SoundCloud, the audio cards were announced via the official Twitter blog (link).
Twitter Product Manager, Richard Sloane said, “Throughout your listening experience, you can dock the Audio Card and keep listening as you continue to browse inside the Twitter app.”
Already a number of music artists, radio/news stations and popular podcasts, such as director Kevin Smith, BBC, Coldplay and Sigur Rós have uploaded content to tweet. Including some unexpected accounts, such as NASA, the White House and Cricket Australia.

We were happy to see the the Australian National Film and Sound Archive were making good use of the new feature.

It’s safe to say, that Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and all the other musical Twitterati will soon be flooding the platform with sneak peeks of their new singles.
Even so, it does give musicians another space to promote their work. Which we think is kind of awesome.
