BEARDY HOUR

Beardyman has a new trick, that sees him joined with Youtube to challenge his creativity on-the-fly. Each week the man with the beard (aka Darren Foreman) will invite a “superstar” guest producer to help write & record a new album in 60 minutes, live in front of a small audience and streamed on Youtube – this week’s guest was Jack Black.

The first of these challenges was recorded earlier this morning and featured Jack Black rocking in his seat, via Skype. There wasn’t much in the way of actual producing from Black, mostly a lot of giggling, bopping in his seat and nodding his head. There were also the odd suggestions – like writing a song about bodily functions.

In fact a number of songs about defecation were created this morning, so don’t expect any high-brow content. It is mildly amusing however and we do get a good look at Foreman, surrounded by DAWs, doing what he does best.

It’ll be interesting to watch these challenges as they progress and if you’d like to get involved you can suggest song topic via Beardyman’s website (link). We can’t help but think of how much he’ll be appreciating those suggestions over the next few weeks and months of challenges. If guest musicians want to do more than seat-dance, we could easily see this becoming a musical version of Whose Line Is It Anyway, which really would be fun to watch.
