The VTX F Series may share a name with JBL’s VTX line array brethren, but they’re a more conventional point and shoot range of passive, bi-amped, 1000W two-ways and sub. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! But with the VTX moniker we can safely assume that the F Series are primo. The VTX F12 and F15 loudspeakers feature the large-format JBL D2 dual-diaphragm, dual driver employed in the VTX V25 full-size line array loudspeaker and the M2 Master Reference Monitor. All F Series models also feature JBL’s lightweight, high-power Differential Drive transducer technology. With these voicing similarities, you can use the F series as fill in a VTX-based setup. Otherwise you can employ them in your usual polemount, top box ’n’ sub, format. And they’re a trap box, so you can lay them down for monitor duties. And what does the ‘F’ stand for? JBL teamed with Firehouse Productions, which is a nice collaboration to crow about given Firehouse’s wedges, for example, were for a good number of years just about the floor monitor of choice when money was no object.
